Booking.com highlights trending Thai destinations for Songkran 2025, with beach cities dominating both domestic and international travel searches.
BANGKOK, THAILAND – As the hottest and the most popular festival, Songkran, in Thailand is approaching, Booking.com has revealed the data of the top searched destinations across the nation during April 12-16, 2025, among international travelers and Thai travelers*.
The data from Booking.com shows that there are five domestic destinations that are highly sought after by Thai travelers during the Songkran holiday, with an increase compared to 2024. These include Koh Samed – Rayong (63%), Chiang Mai (50%), Koh Tao – Surat Thani (45%), Bangkok (44%), and Hua Hin in Prachuap Khiri Khan (40%). Additionally, coastal cities continue to be popular among Thai travelers throughout the summer, as data shows that Phuket, Krabi, Chonburi, and Trat are also the top destinations searched by Thai travelers.
In the meantime, the search figures of international travelers who are seeking destinations for Songkran indicate that the waterfront areas are in demand with YoY comparison during the same period, as four of the five top-ranked provinces are coastal areas, namely Patong Beach in Phuket (91%), Khao Lak – Phang Nga (79%), Kamala Beach in Phuket (70%), Phuket Town (61%), and Bangkok (51%). The travelers conducting these searches are from countries including France, Saudi Arabia, India, Germany, Israel, Australia, the UK, the USA, Malaysia, and Russia, respectively.
